Vague and Nearly Imperceptible Stirrings
I have largely abandoned the newsletter for the present, amid more pressing demands from school, research work, and other projects personal and academic; however, I have continued writing. For those interested, I have published two articles this term in the Berkeley Economic Review:
1) How (Not) To Pay for a Crisis — I was curious, so I produced a short historical and theoretical explainer on Modern Monetary Theory, a previous version of which appeared in this newsletter back in the spring. Unsurprisingly, I was opposed to the novelties and unimpressed by the banalities.
2) Upheaval: Plague, Peasants, and the Proletariat in 14th Century Europe — The last year has seen the production of an absurd surplus of pandemic-related literature, but I was finally compelled to join in after reading Aston and Philpin’s volume on the Brenner Debate.
Please give them a read, if you feel so inclined.
